TG165-X Spot Thermal Camera – FLIR
The FLIR TG165-X is a compact, easy-to-use thermal camera that helps you find electrical, mechanical and HVAC/R faults faster. It gives technicians a clear thermal picture of the problem area. Its tough, portable design lets you take it into almost any work environment. For EV work, technicians can scan high-voltage components, charging ports, cables and battery packs without touching them. It quickly shows overheating connections, uneven cell or module temperatures and failing parts. Technicians can also save before-and-after images to prove they found and fixed the fault.
Key Features:
- MSX® thermal imaging: FLIR’s patented MSX technology adds visible detail to the thermal image. You can clearly see wires and components, and even read labels.
- Wide temperature range: The camera measures from -25°C to 300°C. It’s accurate to ±1.5°C between 50°C and 100°C.
- Bullseye laser pointer: A Class 1 laser marks out the measurement area. You always know exactly which component you’re measuring.
- High thermal sensitivity: The 80 × 60 IR sensor detects temperature differences below 70 mK.
- Rugged, drop-tested design: The IP54-rated enclosure keeps out dust and water. The camera can also survive a 2-metre drop.
- Large image storage: 4 GB of internal storage holds up to 50,000 JPEG images. Each file records the spot temperature.
- Long battery life: The rechargeable Li-ion battery gives you up to 5 hours of scanning. You charge it inside the camera over USB-C.
- Built-in LED worklight: A 100-lumen LED lights up dark or hard-to-reach areas during inspections.
- Clear display and simple controls: The 2.4-inch screen shows live or saved images. One trigger pull captures an image and its temperature reading.
- Adjustable emissivity and colour palettes: Choose from four preset emissivity levels or set your own from 0.1 to 0.99. Six colour palettes suit different targets and conditions.
Standards:
- IP54 (IEC 60529) (AS 60529): Keeps out dust and water splashes.
- IEC 60068-2-27 (AS 60068.2.27): Withstands shocks up to 25 g.
- IEC 60068-2-6 (AS 60068.2.6): Withstands vibration up to 2 g.
- EN 61010 (AS 61010.1): Meets the safety standard for electrical measuring and test equipment.
- CE: Meets European health, safety and environmental requirements.
- CB: Holds IECEE CB Scheme certification for international electrical safety.
- UL: Carries safety certification from Underwriters Laboratories.
- Class 1 laser (AS/NZS IEC 60825.1): The laser pointer is safe under normal use.

The Importance of Phase Rotation Meters
Phase rotation meters are crucial tools for electricians and engineers in Australia, ensuring the correct phase sequence in three-phase systems for safe and efficient operation. What is a Phase Rotation Meter? A phase rotation meter, also called a phase sequence indicator, determines the phase order (ABC or CBA) in a three-phase system. This is essential
